Server Errors.

Is anyone else receiving a lot of server errors recently? For the last few days, it's been a miracle each time I'm able to load the forums/main page. 90% of the time, I get an internal server error, or this:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Too many connections [1040]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

Am I the only one?

I keep getting the same error every few minutes. It wasn't that bad for me until today.

Edit: It took me 5 tries before I could edit this post.

If I keep double posting, it's not because I'm trying to. It's because I get a server error, and have to click "submit" again and again.

Yeah, I contacted our web host's support:

Arvixe Customer Support wrote:We are sorry for the experience you had and for the inconvenience this may have caused. Unfortunately, these issues do occur on shared server from time to time. We have found the some users over-extend server resources causing performance degradation we have taken necessary actions now the server load is under control can you please kindly check and let us know if you are still facing any further issues.

That's after I asked their Live Support yesterday and received the useful suggestion to "upgrade to a business class account"...

How much is it, and is it worth it? I mean I can donate something when I receive my paycheck.

No, it's certainly not worth it from what I'm seeing right now; not for a niche website like USP. We hardly get the amount of visitors that would justify such expenses.

Not to mention Arvixe is such a shitty host that they don't deserve any extra money from any of us. Soon as the hosting is set to expire we need to move.

haha, hopefully the move is transparent. it seems like every 2 years the forums get a reboot

Oh, I don't think there's anything that warrants a move just yet. I must admit that I'm partially to blame due to reacting and filling out support tickets too slowly, allowing the problems to persist for longer than they need to. Considering just how cheap the hosting is, it seems formidable, especially since we get unlimited MySQL databases, webspace, traffic etc.

<insert celebratory note about post #1500 here>

True, but I used to be on shared hosts (with lots more users online simultaneously and probably tenfold the trafiic) and never experienced the lag and timeouts that I've been experiencing lately here (insofar that I was hardly able to log in). The front page usually opens with normal speed but the forum part hangs (and the forum also) so I doubt it's their server settings, looks more like they changed something to the MySQL settings (to which you probably don't have access).

They're back!?! D: Run for the hills! Hide your wife and kids!

seriously though, I haven't run into any errors at all for a loooong time. I must be very lucky

A few days ago I found that my "Waff in Griffiti form?" thread was double posted. What the hell?

You double-post a lot, actually. I suggest clicking the "Submit" button only once instead of mashing it when the site loads slowly. :)

What? That's what I do, click once. I have never hade a slow time loading a usp page. This better be a server error or my computer likes to fuck things up.
