Forum registrations re-opened

Update 03.10.2020

No spam registrations in 2 weeks means that I am now unlocking registrations to users without admin approval. This means that only the regular e-mail approval is required for registration, meaning UnrealSP.org forums are once again completely re-opened!

Update 19.09.2020

Registrations have been tentatively re-opened until further notice. No spambot registrations within the last 48h.

For now, registration still requires direct admin approval, BUT since mailing functionality was also restored, the confirmation mails now arrive again, both for me and those who get approved.

Update 18.02.2018

Registrations have been completely closed. Ask for an account in the Discord chat or by e-mailing [email protected]!

Original post

Hi everyone,

as we have been unable to fight the waves of spambots that have been registering at our forums, we've made the decision to manually approve registrations. This means that, after a new account is made, it has to be approved by me first, before posting can begin.

I try to activate legitimate accounts as I see them, but it's not always easy to discern spammers from real people by e-mail and nickname alone.

If you wish to make sure that I process your registration 100%, please send me an email at [email protected], announcing your registration and providing your nickname.

No, I had approved you right away since you had an e-mail connected to an Unreal website. That made it pretty clear you're not a bot. :)

My friend Solid_Snake1998 joined a while ago and you have not approved him.

Might be probably time for an approval list check?

As a heads-up, I'm never going to manually check the "approval list" for the following reason:

A spambot registers on our forums every ~30 minutes. I am not able to browse through the registrations manually; people gotta send me an e-mail as outlined above.

Good grief... How do you even manage that? O.o

If the spambot problem has gotten that bad is there any possibility that bringing it up with the website hosts would help? Or can they not do anything?

check out your registration settings, could help imo , I started a forum and yes switched it to manual approval and this works the best just need to look ad the bell to see if an approval is needed real easy just check the box and submit it, you can fast see if this is a bot or whatever as you will receive also a mail from it if you forward the email to your E-mail account you use for privet stuff.

Visibility bump. Fact we didn't have a real registration since last July is a bit perplexing, so let's point guests to this thread.

If guests still have issues/questions, join the Discord server asap

Due to a spambot resurgence even despite continuously changing Q&A checks, the registration block is in place again. Please contact us in the Discord if you'd like to register!
