I enjoyed speaking to the crew in this map, maps like this are always rather interesting to play in my opinion.

Probably the most impressive intro map I've seen. Use of fog is just incredible, not to mention the atmospheric entry effects.

The map after this is so awesome that i completely forgot it had an intro. Gotta love the "burning up" effect as the ship lands

The last version I played was the contest released version so I shamefully admit I can't post a decent comment on this map.
Although, having looked at the video, this intro level looks good and fills in the gap where the contestpack started.
The only thing which casts a slight doubt on the level is that it gives me the impression that the ship is crashing instead of landing (but, again, I haven't played it and might just be down to the video).

Definitely a great intro map - I like it better than the actual map.

Atmospheric entry is ROUGH. Like REALLY rough. The effects in this map make it look about as smooth as a ship of that size could be, really.

This is probably the best intro map I've ever played. It was a great set up for the next map.

Good intro map that does a great job setting the mood; I especially like when the windows open in the cockpit area, and the ship atmosphere in general is well-executed. There's not much to add to that as it does it's job near-perfectly.

I really love the way volumetric lighting is applied here. Using fog for the orbital approach was really clever, I rarely see it used that way for space which is strange given how often we see space in Unreal levels. Volumetric lighting is an aspect of the old Unreal engine that I consider one of its lasting strengths. In fact, I'd say that lighting here is, overall, masterfully handled inside and outside the ship to give it presence. For an old engine capable of only so much it can be hard to wow players anymore, but Turboman does it.

With current human technology, yep. But by the time that kind of spacetravel is generalised, my guess is that atmospheric entrance will be a lot smoother.
