I don't understand why it wasn't merged to the previous map or the following map. It was like a map fragment. I'm really flabbergasted by this. Was there even a reason that made sense? Like a BSP bug or something?

Perhaps the laser movers were too laggy to be merged with another map?

That couldn't be it, could it? I did not think they were that complex.

Yeah, this one is really perplexing.

This map should've been integrated into Mothership Lab, I really dont see why they couldn't do that. As it is now I agree with everyone else that it's pretty pointless.

I haven't looked in ued, but could it be possible that it was divided because the layouts from the previous and following map intersected in such a way that the basement would not fit?

But then again, if that was the case they could have just warp zoned it.

They might have just did in as a misguided way to section the Mothership off (with a small level) from the rest of the game, except that the level used lacks the content to really work that way (plus Demon Crater already does that by itself).

If it was going to be mixed with the Lab, then this map should had no enemies.
From a lifeless and clean place to the confusing architecture of Skaarj.inc industries with all the eerie stuff in it.

Nothing spectacular to be honest, some unfairly placed Gunners (or officers, don't remember) and damn lasers (they were yellow in beta, interesting why they changed it). Overally - just a cutscene, no idea why they didn't merged it with something else (as suggested, it might be a good idea to merge it with crater).

Probably because there's nothing yellow in the Mothership.
