It was some ancient press release or descriptive text from Epic. I forget exactly where!

It may as well been their website, but who knows. I have a Russian distribution of Unreal, IDK the publisher exactly (game's in english, but the cover isn't) and it mentions the planet's name as Gryphon and has beta screenshots on the cover.
I am the Unreal archivist and historian. If you have something from the past of Unreal that I don't have, do tell.

UBerserker wrote:Also lol at those Starship textures. I completely forgot about the submarine-like theme.
Its not only starship that has a few odd ones, DecayedS has a lot of conflicting themes, i'd say about 3 themes including the one actually used in terraniux (could this be the warship and the insect ship textures?).
I wonder what kind of design went with these textures, so far i haven't seen any map that made any decent use of them (the only exception is liberation of napali episode 1)

Looking now DecayedS and god WHAT THE HELL is of all that shit
Yeah, most probably the Insect ship textures.
No idea what do you mean with "warship" but I think Alfa26 and HAL are probably Mercenary starships like Terraniux and Cryox.
Also noticed a few corroded wall textures that have probably something to do with Dissent.

Hi guys.
I had all my Unreal memorabilia stored on a partition that found itself inadvertently destroyed. This included much of the original stuff that was given out including this package. Could you please upload it again? Thank you.
P.S. I'm planning on involving myself with the Unreal community again. Just had to get some Real Life (tm) drama out of the way.

Hi everyone!..
I'm so greatly impressed by the content one can find in the UnBible... I just NEED to see it myself... and also, we may use the information from there for our project!..
Please, anyone, who has it - could you please upload it somewhere? *___*
All the links for download I found around the net, seem to be ancient and dead.

Hey guys,
I was curious if anyone has a working link to the Unbible in the first post? The link there is dead for me.
I would like to be able to look over this material and reference it for documentation I am attempting to write for Unreal Tournament 4 / UT4 sideprojects.

Thank you for the re-upload!! Now a lot more of what I saw in the beta version makes sense.
But even with all of this info there still seems to be something missing..
...It's the same thing that's been missing since this game came out, really.
Concept art! Where the heck is the concept art for this game? The only one I've seen so far is this.
Unreal 2 (and virtually every tournament game after '99) had some, but U1's seems non-existent. Where you ever able to find any?

I don't know what the budget was like for Unreal but given game development in the 90s was still emerging from the Wild West era, and Epic was a smaller studio at the time, it's entirely feasible you might not get any concept art that was ever suitable for outside distribution (napkin sketches, etc).

Not really sure if this is the thread for this, but I was curious if there was any solid information concerning the identity / culture of the Mercenaries encountered in Unreal 1. The Skaarj and the Nali are fairly well established, and the Krall have enough by proxy that you can guess a bit about them. Where do the Mercenaries fit into the picture of Unreal and the setting as a whole?

Mercenaries are what they are, they're just jerks trying to get resources for their own needs. Mercenaries could be creatures of different races (which explains why some of them in Terraniux are fatter or slimmer) and most probably might not have a planet at all.
