I have the non-Gold version of 227. I want to change the size of the translator, but I can't figure out where the setting is, either in the .ini files or the settings menu. It's probably right in front of me.

Should be in the very first tab for Graphics settings, lower down.

Is it in a map you're creating? Or do you want to play the campaign with a smaller translator?
If it's in one you are making, then it's in the translator properties/inventory/pickup view scale
I usually set it to .5

227 has an optional feature that makes the translator screen and text a lot larger. My options menu is like the normal Unreal one that you use the keyboard for. I remember where the setting is in the Unreal Gold menu, but I'm not seeing it in the normal menu. If I don't have Gold installed, is there a way to enable that menu?
I guess I'll just make a new install with 227 Gold if I have to, but I really don't want to.

Go to Advanced Options -> Drivers -> Console, and pick UMenu Browser Console.
