In Unreal Gold, there is a very immersion breaking glitch where textures such as fire or water "animated textures" are no longer working. I am using S3TC textures but I've had S3TC and Unreal installed on my computer pretty much since I got it. Nevermind, I fixed it by reinstalling 277i. It was caused by an older version of Rlcoop.

Reinstalling Unreal is the ultimate method.
