Subject: A slight problem

Post Posted: 13 Jul 2008, 14:24

Greetings.

I'm sorry if this is the incorrect place to post this but I have a problem. I've been playing the Deja Vu mappack
on unreal tournament and have not had any problems until I reached Map05 [USP-05-Jaunie-Frieza.unr]. The instant
the lift gets to the bottom and the door opens the game freezes not completely though. My controls in a sense
cease to function the trooper there basically kills me and the game finally crash's with a renderer error.

I've tried a few things to get past it which are:

Tried jumping down the sides of the lift instead of riding it. The game did not crash until I opened the door
at the bottom then the same event as described before happened.

Tried ghosting around it. Once again it didn't crash until I got past that point.

I finally decided to switch my rendered from my current [D3d9 from http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/] to
the Epic opengl one. I did infact get past it this time but figured whats the point of switching renderers
if I have not had any problems except with this map.
----

I figured I would come here and ask if anyone has a suggestion beyond switching renderers or just not playing the
map.

My video card is:NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX

My D3D9 settings are:

Welcome to the forum.

This is a known problem with the map, and the workaround that we suggest is to switch temporarily to the stock UT D3D renderer. That usually gets around it (indeed it seems a similar solution has already worked for you).

Alternatively you could try walking backwards through the door... I've not tried that one, but it might work.

Btw, since this is an Unreal/UT single player forum, Off Topic is clearly NOT the place to put this thread!

I've never seen this error. I'm using the latest version of OpenGl.

To get rid of such problems I had to reset UT settings to defaults and set up renderer's settings after that.

I don't believe this error occurs in the enhanced OpenGL drivers.

Thanks for the replys. I guess I'll try out the opengl drivers instead. Wonder why this happens with the d3d ones though.

I actually thought this happens with the opengl driver.... so I had to use software or glide there... :?

Personally, I've never had it happen with the enhanced OpenGL drivers.

Im sure it doesn't happen with the OpenGl drivers as those were the ones I used when I made it and it never crashed for me during playtesting :|
