The freezing bug you have I think is due to the windowed resolution bug being at like 800x600 or something square...not square, but u know what i mean...it's too early in the morning to think of the word......it's fixed already for 227h too...but you can fix it by changing the windowed resolution in your unreal.ini to something like 799x599.
This is what mine is set too currently, since i end up scaling the window manually when in windowed mode:
WindowedViewportX=1360
WindowedViewportY=706
The brightness not resetting has also been fixed for 227h, but you don't have to restart in order to fix that. You can open the game again, change brightness to normal (5/10), then end task the unreal.exe process (imitating a force close/crash) so then the brightness "resets" so to speak. =P
p.s. Oh and for shadows, i recommend low res or med res...anything higher will severely drop performance. Unless you mean like literal bugs...in which case you should report them so we can fix them ^_^

If you're using a platform that doesn't put the gamma back to normal when you exit, you can use this after you've closed the game, and it will reset your gamma to what you had before:

A little status update:
For 227g or more 227h progress, which fixes the things which have came up in 227g, I wanted to release it already 2 weeks ago. But as always, there were some things eating up more time as expected. I hope to finish work on it until next weekend.
