Subject: [ut3] Unreal Tournament 3 hits the streets in the UK

Epic's latest instalment in the Unreal series, Unreal Tournament 3, was released in the UK on Friday. Although many of our viewers will now be frantically playing the game, which reportedly brings the gameplay a notch closer to that of the original UT after the gymnastics of UT2003 and UT2004, only time will tell whether the third generation of the Unreal Engine and the multiplayer code base of UT3 will provide a solid platform for aspiring Single Player developers. In the mean time, if you possess a computer that is up to the task of playing this visually luscious outing, complete with its heavily re-imagined and monstrous-looking Krall, enjoy!

It's good to say that the new Krall model is probably a rehash of the monster that was supposed to be the Krall: the Minotaur.

A patch is coming as well... and yeah, it's like UT1. Bad to see that the official reviews are written by UT2k4 n00bs - although it's safe to say that official reviews must be avoided at all costs.

OMG I WANT THE GAEM!!1

Well I will not be getting UT3. One my pc will not run it and 2ed I’m not into MP. That and I realy do not have the time to game. With all the work that has to be done down here on the farm.
If some day the mod world makes an SP mod for it UT3 then I will pick up a copy of it. The only reason I got UT was for ONP. I think the UT3 engine will make a great SP game. But like Hellscrag said, “Only time will tell” if UT3 will make a good platform for SP mods.

It might, I suppose, on the very lowest settings, but it doesn't really seem worth it, to be honest. I can wait.

You mean with patches and custom content? If so, then, yes.

Plus more people that will buy prettier rigs, and so a bigger community.

I just bought myself this rig a month ago and this 'friend' in YM suddenly started buzzing all around me about his brother's rig with an overclocked Core 2 Duo + overclocked GeForce 8800 Ultra + custom 1TB HD (WHAT?!) + 3GB RAM. Think of the giant cooling reactors that would need. :? Does someone really have to show me how underwhelming my PC is only days after I've got it into my paws?

As for the Single Player content, sooner or later, mod mkers will create something like that, and will share this with the rest of the community :P

No Dual-Core no fun!

Bleh, I have 4400 mhz system but It did cost me a shit... shipload of money, and only a single day after I learned that U3 runs on 3ghz systems which cost around € 300 without a video card.
More cpu power than 3000 mhz isnt needed anyway for the next 2 years or so - every single game will be made with the U3 engine so dont waste your money.
