By now, your maps should probably be at about 20% build. If you have been mapping all week but are way, way below that, then it may be time to reconsider the scope of your entry.

Good luck. :o

My map is going ok... About somewhere between the 20% & 40% mark I think...

By the way: What is the exact date & time of when we should be done?

The date: Clearly specified in the rules as Sunday 2nd August
The time: Probably the end of the day (midnight) UK time...

...although an earlier time might allow me more of a chance to download everyone's submissions and make sure they work, so I might change that to 6PM UK time.

Just because I have achieved that myself, doesn't mean that's the only thing I've based it on. Here's how I think it should be done, assuming a model of "build first, gameplay later".

Week 1 - 20%-25% build
Week 2 - 40%-50% build
Week 3 - 60%-75% build
Week 4 - 80%-100% build
Week 5 - 100% build; gameplay underway
Week 6 - 100% gameplay; testing

That's certainly what I'm aiming for myself. It's common sense, really.

Hmm, I've never released any SP maps before so I might quickly whip up a 2 map cave/skaarj thing. Plus I miss the UE1.

I've got 60% of a first map, and that means it's like 40% of a second... Cos these two are very similar. About 80% of all scripts, two songs out of three... And a half of stuff as it comes to the dialogues.

I wonder if I'll make it :?

Very busy at the moment (for the next 3 weeks) but if there is 1 thing which should be said ... It's that 6 weeks development time is way too much. Looking at what has been produced already and the quality attained, it seems 4 weeks is time enough.
In this way:
  • maps would be ready exactly when I have time again to play, euh, I mean evaluate them.
  • and 4 weeks development, 4 weeks rest to renew inspiration and HellScrag could open a new contest (*me thinking that makes 6 competitions a year which just about fills up all my free time with playing, euh, I mean evaluating all the new stuff*)

For those who didn't get my humour - I am seriously impressed by some (most) of the screenshots and ideas expressed. My expectations (concerning a short competition in a small community like this) were low but have already been surpassed tenfold, if not more. I actually suspect some entrants are using Godmode

My map should definitely be finished before five weeks.

It's other aspects of my map that I'm hoping I can finished in time :o

I'm kinda worried if 6 weeks for me is enough. We'll see.

Quality, not quantity. Maps won't be rated based on how long they are - a complete, self-contained experience is more important.
