[ut] "Vacillations of a Victorian Vagrant"
Posted: 16 Jul 2009, 19:34
by Hellscrag
Synopsis: In an oppressive warehouse district somewhere in an old Victorian city, a homeless man awakes in the derelict tenement he has sheltered in for the night. Deciding to make a move before he is discovered, he finds himself locked into the dismal street. Strange noises emanate from a cathedral-like factory. What's to be done?
Gameplay: Standard Unreal combat, but with the twist of an historic Earthbound setting. I'm aiming for better combat design than simply dumping creatures into the map. The climax of the map comes when the player gains entry to the factory and must shut down the source of the alien invasion forces.
Progress: As of 28/07/2009, VVV has now been released!
Edit 29/07/2009:
PATCHED to fix a bug in which the final boss sometimes doesn't appear. That's the only change, so there's no need to re-play the map if it worked OK for you, but I'd be grateful if everybody could re-download the map and delete the old version.

I wish I could be that creative with map titles.
Screens are looking good. I am only a little bit unsure about the mix of Skycity textures with modern uttech ones.

TempoClasm's implementation of this theme was
terrible. I've been wanting to redress the balance ever since. This is a much more "integrated" design.

The only UTTech texture is the glass. For a non-standard theme such as this one, I don't really mind where I get my texttures from as long as they are all appropriate to the "old industrial" style of the map and don't clash too much.

Thank you very much, that is a strong endorsement.

Still reminds me of it. Or more The Landing's second map.

Don't you know I hate that map? Not a good comparison!

Lighting looks a little dull, but I'm assuming this was intentional for the theme. I do like the look of the map so far, interesting theme
