All I see now when I google search or youtube is Unreal Engine 4/Unreal Tournament 4 mapping tuts. The only webguides I've found so far are on this site (legacy, and the ones in the sticky thread), archived sites, and oldUnreal. Some Youtube videos would be nice.

Try this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nswj8lsdES4 I typed in Unreal Editor 2 tutorial and that was the first result.

I remember seeing some video tutorials on Youtube a long time ago (4 or 5 years ago), can't find them now... however, all you really need (if you are truly motivated to learn the basics of UED2) is on this site's "Legacy" - section Level Design, and "Level Design for Dummies" + "Lighting for Dummies" by Mister_Prophet specifically - taught me the most important stuff and I got started that way.

Unreal Editor 2? What happened to Unreal Editor 1?

UED1 was the old Unreal 1 editor one.

If you have Unreal 227 you'd have Unreal Editor 2.1 which is a HUGE step up from UEd 1.

I heard a lot of people having trouble running UED1 back in the days, something about video cards and sounds even though Epic released four experimental patches (couldn't run it myself either). Why's that?

I think it's just the program itself. I remember tampering with maps and assets of retail UT, and everytime I tried to rebuild geometry or even change the viewport configuration, UED crashed instantly. Similar UED build is used in Deus Ex SDK, but I never tried to do anything beyond map exploration, perhaps due to my past experience with this version.

I kept an archive of *everything* I downloaded over the years. I have every packaged tut I ever saw for the editor. The only thing I was unable to save was forum thread tutorials but I did get some websites archived before nuke/phpBB stopped that from being possible. If you are still interested I could scrape it all together from my backup HDD's as a single package.
