Status update! Real life has not been kind to me and I am having trouble staying motivated. I have the next week and half totally free (at the moment...) so I still have a decent chance of finishing on time. Word of warning though, this map is not going to be combat heavy.

Status update again: The Oll Stone will not be completed in time. Over the last few days I've been working on a speedmap speedmap prologue though to have something to submit. Details on that below. Anyway I feel I could have very well completed The Oll Stone if I had been able to stay focused, but unfortunately real life events got in the way of that, and once you lose that momentum it is difficult to recover. For any who may be concerned The Oll Stone will never be finished I give my word that it will be completed by the end of this year, probably sooner.

Anyway about the speedmap speedmap: It is intended to a be prologue to The Oll Stone, though not really necessary for the storyline of The Oll Stone. The story for the prologue is as follows: You are on a boat headed from Australia to the submarine pen where you will begin your journey. There will be three maps (lol).

Title: The Ibyn Complex

ebd_usp10_oll_ibyn.unr: Finished @ 271kb
ebd_usp10_oll_ibyn_d.unr: In progress
ebd_usp10_oll_ibyn_i.unr: Finished @ 4.77kb

A beta will be released sometime tonight and a final version will be submitted tomorrow morning before the contest ends. I will post it in this thread.

beta version of speedmap crapmap

ibyn_beta.zip (Save As)

known bugs
 • moons in the skybox look terrible (will be fixed in final release)
 • map is terrible (will not be fixed sorry)

There are three maps, start with ebd_usp10_oll_ibyn.unr, not the other two. You will know when you are done when you get an error message about teleporter destinations (for connecting to any supposed hub).

Full version in a few hours. The first post will be updated at that time.

Copied and Pasted from first post:

-= The Oll Stone Prologue: The Ibyn Complex =-

Final Version (~8 PM GMT )(technically late): ibyn_gold.zip (Save As)
Beta Version (~11 AM GMT): ibyn_beta.zip (Save As)

There are three maps, start with ebd_usp10_oll_ibyn.unr, not the other two. You will know when you are done when you get an error message about teleporter destinations (for connecting to any future hub map). Also I made the map with U227g OpenGL and realized at the last minute that is looks god awful in UT436 Direct3D but there is nothing that can be done now.

This is the most hilarious thing I have ever seen in Unreal and the best prologue in the whole of game history!

It was suprising to come from inside the boat, which was slightly weird, to the deck which was a whole other planet. Super random sky and I really like that lift with the moving bar.

Possibly winning entry? :o
How long did this take to make? Also, when will we see the rest of The Oll Stone?

very nice intro, and what a creative second map :P
i loved the skaarj rave, most creative use of movers ever with those subwoofers :P
the only thing i noticed, i entered it incorrectly by jumping to the cliff, this didnt trigger the skaarj to dance.
It is tough to say since I didn't really time it, but it took a while. I'd ballpark it in somewhere around 12-24 hours. Sadly it is kind of apparent (to me at least) what parts got twenty minutes and what parts I spent hours on.

As for the rest of The Oll Stone, I posted a few posts back:
ebd wrote:For any who may be concerned The Oll Stone will never be finished I give my word that it will be completed by the end of this year, probably sooner.
The quote was kind of in the middle of a block of text though so it was pretty easy to miss. In fact, it will probably be completed much sooner than the end of the year but it is better to say the end of the year then release it early then to say next week and release it in a few months.

That was rather fun LOL
Dream sequence was pretty LOL, things like this stand out to me when playing a game (Afraid of Monsters is so high on my list of mods/levels for that reason, use of freakish nightmare sequences). This was interesting though :D

The scripts are cool and it looks good too, as well as the crazy skybox. Is the second level on a timer? I couldn't seem to work out how it ended (outside of that pit-fall exit). I need to retry it again though as I apparently entered the rave the wrong way and didn't see it as intended (it's pretty easy to reach the cliffs from below).

Edit: LOL, the rave is much better the intended way.

What is the intended way? I only ever accessed it from leaping up onto the cliffs (and that was only on my second play :B ).
