No because it was leaked by a HACKER (and not an Epic employee as everyone thought) that Epic has currently sent to the legal department or whatever. So yes, they give a big shit to betas and alphas. Otherwise BeyondUnreal Forum Admins wouldn't go all pissed when they see shady stuff in their boards.

But now, please avoid continuing this discussion.

I don't see how it isn't a big deal to discuss the alphas when an employee's job could be on the line, but when it's revealed that someone completely unrelated to Epic leaked them it suddenly becomes a problem. I don't see how simple discussions could be "worse" than creating content from Epic's old ideas, either (not that either of those things seem wrong to me). If this whole ordeal is such a big problem, Epic probably would probably ask for this thread to be removed, remove any links pertaining to the cut content (like Master_Unreal's pack or that krall I made), and get rid of that wiki page that describes the alpha in detail.

On topic, that bonesaw looks pretty sweet. The textures really make it fit with the rest of Unreal's weapons.

Maybe we should ask Epic what do they think about it?

It's better not bothering Epic at all. You don't want them to keep USP constantly under the radar as they do with BUF.

Just don't post links to the original leaked files, and don't go so much in detail for the content/important files in public (especially anything regarding the Unbible).

Great news!!

I asked for info (more like I got it prior to asking), looks like Epic people treat the Alpha stuff and Unbible in the same way as they treat the U97/98 beta. So posting links is fine and stuff can be used in mods.

That's good to know. It would have been a shame if that wasn't the case.

Imported the old automag mesh, leo coded this originally for some Unreal97 test so i used that, fixed things up as needed and added a reload function. The alpha hud is pretty much done (for singleplayer at least) The result is some 1996 alpha like unreal screenshots.

This is just beyond awesomeness. Master_Unreal, you're doing a great work here. I remember seeing screenies like this back in 96 and 87 and I just wanted to play this... Thanks to you, my childhood dreams will come true!

haha, so oldskool. While I'm happy that unreal turned out how it did, it'll be awesome to play around with this "early history" type stuff

you need to really lower your use of colored lighting; That technology was hardly in the engine - if at all - in the Alpha phase.
And the download link's gone - You should prehaps make a link for another site, because Megaupload's kaput (I think that's because SOPA - Hate you, US congress!!! :x )

Your knowledge of the situation is nil -- it is thanks to MegaUpload's demise that the Congress saw the lack of need to introduce SOPA & PIPA -- they saw that piracy can be combatted without the use of such drastic measures. It is no coincidence that soon after MU's lockdown, both bills were canned. If they planned to gain support for them by doing that, it backfired.
