This is going to take a very long time to complete though unless there is a big team working on it.

I got the impression, from the forum that's hosting the actual project, it's largely one guy working on it.

Actually, according to the UnBible, Unreal 2 was originally going to take place right after Unreal 1, and on Skrath.
