What started as an unexpected screenshot, to my asking about it in a few forums, led to the discovery that someone has started a project to take the story and scenarios in the original Unreal1 and redesign them for UT3, and another new forum for me to join.

I poked around but I didn't see an existing thread for this anywhere.

Looking through that thread, there is some amazing stuff. Still got Unreal's atmosphere, but liberties taken to do something slightly different. All those trees in Nyleve work surprisingly well.

I don't have UT3 so I'm interested in this but have no way to test the available version. Also, that Skaarj in the pic is borrowed from U2 but so far as I know no one ever upated the Nali or other normal U1 creatures.
I'm kinda curious what other creatures this UT3 Unreal (U3?) uses.

I want to see female Nali besides Vandorka. Why? I can't see how Nalis can reproduce without females. Same way with Skaarj too.
Trying to get back into the swing of things.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that nali are asexual. Not sure about Skaarj, I assumed they had been bio-engineered over a long period of time or something

If Nali are asexual then what's with all the Nali statues with boobs?

A pupae is basically a baby skaarj, that's how I saw it, since the Queen is female and whatnot.

This is actually explained somewhere, don't recall where exactly but I can hunt down the link.
The Skaarj are a largely asexual species in that not all of them can breed. Their society is hive like, though they are not insects or reptiles, as they are often mistaken for such given their semi-scaley skin.
The pupae are the newborns, babies are created when a Skaarj is transformed into a Warlord, which mates with the Queen.

So, what about Nali? Krall? Well, as it comes to Mercenaries it's easier I guess.

Those pics are great, it has a dort of Avatar feel to it (maybe something to do with the floating rocks!). Nyleve is a lot better with jungle and the mines are so detailed. Amazing when you see them compared to the old pics.

At least that part is confirmed
@Qtit, I believe it was earlier stated that Nali was asexual, Krall.. hmm What I believe is that the Krall we see is the male sort since Skaarj went to their homeworld and dominated it, so my guess is that they are still in their homeworld.
Mercenaries is special indeed, albeit they look mechanical they appear organic when you shoot them ;P

I wish someone would make an actual sequel to RTNP on a different engine version revealing the Skaarj's homeworld (which is Skrath) and figure out how the Skaarj queen came to be since I'm so ungodly curious.

Great looking stuff. Too bad UT3 is such a resource hog that I'd have to buy a whole new computer to play it in anything but 1024X768.

The same source I got that blurb about the Skaarj on said the Krall were basically a very human like species in the way the developed, minus the fact they're clearly not human. Was fairly vague on that, but I suspect they have females.
