Whoa cool
Unreal needed some really good "space" sky textures.

I agree, a good skybox does a lot for immersion! ;)

What should we see?
The way software rendering looks better?
Or the bug?

The bugs obviously.

Which version of OpenGL renderer is it, and have you tweaked the settings ?
Is it the same in D3D9 ?

If you have found a bug in the current renderer, then it would be best to report it so it can be fixed.

It occurs in both d3d9 and opengl, but not software or other versions of d3d. I don't remember if I tweaked the ini files, but I can check to see if it occurs in a fresh 227i install (I think someone hooked me up with some flavor of 227j but I don't recall)

I can say that the error only seems to occur for static meshes where at least one face is transparent. That is true for the mesh in that screenshot.

I'll investigate further sometime in the not too distant future and make a post about it on OU.

Greetings everyone, I am going to break my ever prolonged periods of quiescence with some work in progress images of a singleplayer campaign I'm working on.

I'll start with some screenshots of Zyox Factory, the first of four maps set within a vast Mercenary Complex (These images are from a slightly older version):

This map leads to the Zyox Industrial District, which is still very much a work in progress. Some of the layout and a few details have been complete:

The Zyox series of maps is loosely based on the cut Half Life 2 Air Exchange Chapter.

Another map is the Cryox Nitrogen Infusion Plant, a continuation of Inoxx's Cryox map from the beta of Unreal. The original Cryox map will also see several expansions and adjustments.

This map is set in a valley, a relatively calm map for exploration. In case you are wondering, the terrain has been created with 3DS Max (I use it for most terrains and supplementary natural enhancements):

The Volcanic Plains is part of another major series of maps in the campaign, where the player must infiltrate an excavation project under a volcano. The player will be fighting the new Skaarj Faction in the campaign, the Spetsnaz; a secretive militarised group conducting operations on Gryphon (or Na Pali, if you prefer). The Spetsnaz units use modified versions of the Spetsnaz skins from CS:CZDS. Why Spetsnaz, you ask? Well if you must know the story, they are simply part of an old UT skin project I was working on before xWalterUTChars. I was rather fond of the old skins and repurposed them for this campaign instead.

One of the more complete maps in the campaign is Skotroth Crypt:

Some other levels-

Incomplete terrain map:

Mercenary Train:

Can you see it?:

That's all for now, more coming soon!

It all seems very exciting, Dr. Walter! Some amazing pics, thanks for sharing, and good luck with it all!

Only thing I find funny is naming a group of Skaarj "Spetsnaz"! Sorry, but to me that will invariably make me think of Soviet/Russian special forces! Then again, I guess we can always pretend it's just a name given by humans - in the same way as "Gryphon" really sounds like a name given by humans to whatever (a planet in this case).

Nice shots, Walter! The only things I would've complained about (like overuse of base textures) are in maps that you haven't finished yet. :D
The Unforchers will come again soon...

OMG a new project out of nowhere!
Screenshots looking good.
Any tentative time schedule? (no release date or anything specific, just an envisaged time frame for the various production stages)
