Well, I'm not really skeptic of CA.org - just scared that I may get some frying but I can try. I needed to know if I had a place there or not because, well, it is a pro-on-pro website. :) Besides I'm not like those so-called populars from DeviantART.

ConceptArt.org stinks of elitism but ravishingly good art as well so please don't get it wrong. :P

Looks more like clouds and flying creatures to me...

My reasons for my statement:
1) it's blue/green-ish.. just like a world under water
2) flying creatures could be swimming creatures
3) I kinda felt like the "archi" in this picture was a little blurry, just like it's in the water, know what I mean?
4) the rest feels like foggy.. just like in water...

I only missed the bubbles & Nemo. :P

Blow. Shit. Up.

Image

I call this... the SBU Tank. SBU basically means Shit-Blower Upper.

Holy hell, I feel like I've TOTALLY outdone myself this time. Started this one 4 days ago. I was listening to the Red Alert 3 soundtrack while doing this - put me in drive. Now that I've caused enough delays elsewhere, time to get back to mapping.

Probably won't be painting again until winter break. Hard to be productive on several things at once.

Things I learned from this image:
  • Use a color palette with a much, much wider level of lighting.
  • Use a gradient color palette - not an "inkspot-by-inkspot" palette.
  • There is no base color other than black as surface colors are illuminated by lights.
  • Copy-pasting is not being lazy. It's algorithmically efficient.

Ahh, this one i love. This is one that is more adventurous with colours, but still, it is predominantly redish colours. The whole thing reeks of red. But at the same time, i'm loving it! Awesome tank is awesome.

Curvy!
This is great on a professional level. You should find a model artist and make it a Goliath replacement for UT2004 or something.

Man that's great. The only criticism I have is that a lot of the tank (like the gears that are supposed to be covered by the armor skirts) all looks really flat and 2D (I know that this is a 2D image, :p but still); it lacks a certain depth that emulates the third dimension. I can't pinpoint what it is since I'm a terrible artist, but yeah. It almost looks like you drew a picture of a flat polygon with a texture applied to it. That's about all I can think of. Otherwise, it's fantastic. The guns and turret really have the 3D look and have a nice shininess, too.

To tell the truth, the gears were built from UnrealEd (just their caps - I added the "depth"). :P People will think this is "cheating" but hey - isn't it my benefit that I can take advantage of UnrealEd for stranger applications?

I'm going to totally use a way larger palette - you guys would be surprised how bad this baby looks without adjustment layers.

One more thing I noticed - I should have used a very much thinner brush for the front of the vehicle - it doesn't match the details on the side of the tank. In fact, I was surprised that the skirt on the right side almost looked correctly "3D" while the front looked more obviously painted. The lack of depth is my failure to pick out more FACEPUNNNCCHHING colors on my palette.

The turret's cannons also don't cast shadows on the rest of the environment but I liked how round they became. The smudge brush is your friend! :D I should have smudged the scratches on the rest of the chassis too maybe...

"Impressive.. most impressive.....!"

One little thing though.. maybe it's my monitor though.. but the wheels.. kinda look plastic-y. Is it the palette maybe? (that it's not black.. the shadow parts)

It has to be the palette - as said earlier, I chose some rather bad levels of color. Actually, the brighter colors of my palette weren't used as much because the darker colors weren't dark at all. I was already too far making the whole thing when I found this out. :B Lesson learned!
