Perhaps some statues of gargoyles and angels would be cool too.

Use the gargoyles from Gothic Resurrection if you want. They're kinda flat but look good from a distance...

why the rolleyes? I genuinely approve :P it's a style i haven't seen in Unreal before and reminds me of something else which I can't quite place

Time for a new update. Had a break from unreal tournament and stuff.
Changed the lighting for a more dramatic - dynamic effect:


Just need to work on those realistic shadows and pickups.
progress: 80 %

if you want more screens then say it ofcourse.

More screens are always good. Quite like the new lighting, although it'd be great if the minimalistic grey outdoor areas retained that minimalism

I REALLY like the style of these maps. Reminds me a lot of Blood, but Unreal instead. Definitely looking forward to seeing more.

The style definitely isn't something I've seen before in Unreal. Nice work on the shadows, too! :tup:

You might want to make the skybox mountains slightly lighter, though. It would be kind of weird for them to be pitch black with the gray sky.

Hey! you are right about the skybox, I really didn't notice that! Thanks.
Actually the lighting/shadows aren't completed yet, there are some more steps to take to make it as good as mister prophet shows in his tutorial(s).
All the lighting comes from above, as it represents moon/sunlight. That's how I constructed the layout and area's. U must see the lighting I have put in CrystalMine 3, then this map's lighting is actually pretty simple. The other thing is that all textures are light gray and doesn't need bright lighting or special placed spotlights to brighten up certain surfaces.

I'm loving it. Also, I've got no issues with the pitch black mountains. I think it adds to the distinct theme. Maybe add some thunder and lightning off in the distance which illuminates them every now and then

Sinister and threatening are good words to describe what I see in those pictures. :tup: Your best iteration of this theme so far if you ask me.

Will the enemies match the theme? I can imagine a big, pale, extra-angry-looking Skaarj waiting for me as I round a corner in that place. :o

Yes, I have some cool setups. But I think i'll stick as the same groups of monsters as in my previous maps. U must defeat bosses in order to open up doors and unlock new items.
And not to forget secrets, puzzles and traps. ;)
