The public RLCoop server is now up and running! For now, this is just a test. If everything goes well, it'll stay active. But expect crashes, bugs, and downtime, as RLCoop is still heavily in development.

Server Information:

Name: RLCoop (Real Life Survival Game Mode) [PUBLIC]
Game Mode: Cooperative
Required Version: 227i

NOTE: RLCoop is a heavily CO-op dependent game. Playing alone is NOT recommended.

REQUIREMENTS:

In order to play on the server, you must have the following:

227i Patch: Required to join the server.

Download the 227 patch here: http://www.oldunreal.com/oldunrealpatches.html

Key Bindings: RLCoop has new key functions which you must set before you can play.

INT for controls in menu: https://www.dropbox.com/s/giyx1y0nfs6m3 ... S.int?dl=1

New Key Commands:

-Grab (Pickup weapons, items, and decorations)
-Button bLeanLeft (Lean left)
-Button bLeanRight (Lean right)
-Button bSprint (Sprinting)
-RLMenu (Inventory Menu)

To bind keys, simply open console and type "Set Input Key Command". Example, "Set Input G Grab" will set the G key to the Grab function. Or you can click the Set Controls button on the RLMenu which will automatically show on your first time joining, which will set your controls to the Recommended Setup below.

Recommended Setup:

-Set Input F Grab
-Set Input Q Button bLeanLeft
-Set Input E Button bLeanRight
-Set Input Alt RLMenu

Note that Walk, Crouch, and FeignDeath are also keys you'll want to have set, as they provide new functions as well.

Learn About RLCoop:

To learn all the new changes and features, including future updates to RLCoop, please read/follow the official project thread

Voice Server:

Communication is key. If you got a friend you're playing with on the server and want to be able to communicate easier, join our TeamSpeak voice server.

Server Address: 37.187.78.139:10006

No password. There will be an Unreal/Unreal Tournament channel under Other Games.

I suggest you periodically organize a playthrough with people on the forums (OU included) so that there are a considerable number of interested persons cooperating in the server so that curious newcomers can be initiated and helped through the mechanics more quickly. Otherwise, nice job.

Well as it stands currently, the RLMenu pops up if you're a first timer. I've changed RLMenu to have a Tutorial button which explains the key functions in your console, and also a Set Controls button which sets the default controls for you. So far though, 2 people have come in, ignored the RLMenu tutorial button, said "why cant i pick up shit" and then left immediately lol. So yeah...Eventually I wanna design a better tutorial that pops up when you first join. But that'll have to wait.

Maybe have the RLMenu pop up every time for each person, and have a checkbox that allows players to switch it off manually. Seeing the menu for each rejoin might force them to look at the menu and see what's there to help them learn how to play. Unreal isn't a simple minded game but it only goes so far in regards to cognition, and players may not immediately consider that your server's new playstyle would be any more complex than vanilla Unreal. When it is and they immediately assume it's broken and unplayable because it's "different" and "complicated", you have to force them to pay attention. Not everybody's like this, but a fair few individuals who have been playing online for years may still have trouble putting some of their own grey matter into figuring out something new (and well-communicated through a frigging tutorial button).

That's a good idea Jet, but unfortunately that may require a clientside .ini config file to remember who has checked the box and who hasn't...maybe...we'll look into it.

[edit] Bleeder has told me this is actually possible, so we'll see what happens.

-Fixed duplicates bug. No more reconnecting.

-Fixed "Eightball sticking out of ass" while game is paused.
-Now shows F1 player list at start so you can see who is ready and who is not ready. Automatically turns off when game begins.
-Fixed chat not working while game paused.
-Fixed access none spam in log.

I've been trying to stealth through Nali Castle all on my own. Did you do something to the way the weapons aim, or am I lagging?

Hey thanks, that's awesome.

Yes, the accuracy is dependent on your movement. Running and shooting = 7% loss, Standing still = 5% loss, and Crouching or Proning will be only a 3% loss. So being still will obviously give you better accuracy. I may have forgot to update that on the main RLCoop thread, but I'm sure I listed something about that feature.

Okay, well now I know that in Nali Castle its essentially pointless to go for the ASMD on your own.
