Subject: Unreal Gold Coop - please help

Post Posted: 21 Sep 2008, 22:37

I want to play Unreal in coop over the net. I've started a listen server by going

Multiplayer -> Start New Multiplayer Game -> Game Type = Coop / Map Name = Vortex2

I've given the server a name and left everything else on the server tab blank. I've forwarded port 7777 on my router.

I think that's everything i need to do on my end. How does someone join the server? We've tried using the open location and putting in my IP address but all they get is a message that says

Connecting (F10 cancels)
unreal://xx.xx.xxx.xx/indexl.unr"

and after a while that disappears and nothing else happens.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Try also forwarding ports 8080, 8777, 9777 and 27900.

27900 is for communication with the Master Server as far as I'm aware. The others I was once told to forward on my router, so I don't know what exactly they're used for (if they even are). :)

8080 may be for the webadmin system (?)

The server works perfectly and my girlfriend and I are slowly making our way across Na Pali.

It took a little convincing to get her to play it because she prefers modern games with fancy graphics but she's enjoying it heaps apart from when she dies and has to find her way back through the whole level!

If you install a custom coop game type (for example JCoopZ) you can get rid of that problem by teleporting her back to you. However I don't know whether it still works with Unreal 227..

Thanks. I've downloaded the latest build and will have to look at it later as I'm getting some Quake2 in while I can.
