Ehhrm, do remember that ONP Guy, Jones, and Spencer are original characters from custom mods and are not part of official Unreal canon. Redux-ing old areas for nostalgia is just fun for the community to do you know.

Yeah, i read that somewhere too, except it sure as hell wasn't P849 who we're talking about. I think it was Mariana's description in the UT ladder. Or one of the necris peeps.

If Epic would be clever they would start to develop "Unreal Zero".

I always thought signifigant mods for a game can actually add to the lore of it. I cosnider some mods, like ONP and Xidia to be "part of the universe"...a person can say "so and so is in the unreal universe because it was in ONP and Xidia" If such a thing fits with the original..why not?

Well, the chapters in the Jones series (Xidia, Skytown, 7B, RD) do acknowledge some others into their chronology (Deja Vu and Firestorm just to name two) and mind the events of Unreal, RTNP, and Unreal2...but not others. I think some community packs just fit better into into the "official" timeline than others.
Nali Chronicles, ONP, Tower of Shrakith'a and various EZkeel mappacks don't exactly translate perfectly into the mythos, I feel, due to some factors.

I need to replay all these packs again, truth be told ive only played xidia once and 7b once without finish, never jeard of skytown :O..RD isn't out yet ...played onp twice. I think SKaarj tower pack would fit well into the universe, imho its unreal with a different layout.

SkyTown = Na Pali Haven Redux. Story-wise, comes between Xidia and 7B.
My walkthrough about it has been added recently in this website: http://www.unrealsp.org/community/mapti ... ux-00.html

If you want to get technical, Skytown, 7B, and the start of RD occurs all in the same week.

Duh huh lol?
Perfect "Unreal Zero" NaPali-wise for me!

That's... interesting. He's a busy guy, isn't he? I always thought the actual marines after tough missions get a day or two off.

But they may collide with the timeline of any future Unreal-series official product (if any... and no Unreal 2 stuff this time please!) so considering them as "official" is tricky thing to do.

I can understand You saying ONP and EZkeel's stuff not fitting in very well. But NC and Tower of shrakith'a? What prevents them from fitting in? Of course i still haven't completely played through NC so i might be missing something, but Tower? I saw nothing that distances it from the original unreal story in terms of consistancy.

Nali Chronicles? One of the best parts of that pack is its story. But even though it is essentially a "Unreal 0" story, many things about it are a huge departure from Unreal and RTNP. And there is nothing wrong with that, however. It's just hard to draw correlation between NC and the mother game for a lot of reasons. This is in stark contrast to, say, Firestorm, which...when you guys see it...feels like a direct followup to Unreal and takes a much more ambiguous tone to the core material, the way Unreal did. I'd say the same thing about the other packs I mentioned, although I am biased towards my discount of ONP mainly because it uses Xidia maps rather than the general arcade flavor to it.

Tower, if I recall, isn't supposed to be set on Na Pali. If anything it always seemed like a really good multi-verse approach to an Unreal pack. Although perhaps Hellscrag could explain this better. I could say the same thing for NC here. Although for NC, a large part of it has to do with the unbound mystics and magic. Unreal had very subtle coverage of this sort of stuff and handled in a way that was open to interpretation. NC, on the other hand, embraces Nali culture and mysticism in a very direct RPG magic/mana sort of way that leaves little to speculation or alternate interpretation. Nali use magic and magic exists.

Spoilers in black.
NC ends with the Vortex Rikers being pulled into Na Pali by the main character. AFAIK, the Vortex crashed in Na Pali due to the planet's gravity or something like that according to official info.
