I've watched this maybe 10 times now. I might be a little biased but I think this has to be to best trailer for a competitive arena style game I've ever seen :p

and release is sometime soon, tomorrow maybe.

The quality of many UT3 mods & mappacks is outstanding. I'd pay to play this stuff.

At least we have a "new" weapon added
the Ammo-Super-ShockRifle
Weapon Pickup: 4 Ammo, each super shock core 3 Ammo, Max 10 Ammo
Firerate was halfed.. but the weapon was not used in any of our maps ...

ok offtopic over and out...

Visc what do you expect? Thats a MAPPACK!! not a weaponpack, search for weaponpacks if you want new guns...
like this one.

It's not a mappack, as the name implies it is a Bonus Pack. In fact there aren't only maps, but also characters, pickups and gametypes.

The trailer was really really nice.
Just a question, was the music yours Zyn?

As for the pack, having already played it I can say that some maps are really nice (I especially liked the DOM maps). There are maps for any gametype, it should make UT3ers happy :) (although as usual with the CBP3 packs not many of these maps will be used on competitive servers)

Zyn did the music track afaik. And I heard that it's going to be released late today (finally!).

Small resume - this Bonus Pack contains:

Code: Select all

Three DeathMatch maps
Two Vehicle CTF maps
Two CTF maps
Two Domination maps
One Warfare map

New gametype: Classic Domination

New pickups: Speed Boots and Concussion Field

New character: Rankin

Extremely high quality too.
Requires Patch 2.1.

Honestly I liked vol2 much more. I guess I have now seen to much "industrial overgrown maps with brocken walls and a heavy thunderstorm" :o Really, this is not that interesting as like at the beginning anymore, but of course the maps look all good but it is the same as if you would eat extravagant chocolate every day. DM Maps like DM-DG-Tempered (if it was the name) are really cool (this is this dm map with some quake 3 dm map layout parts)

Exactly, in my humble opinion a so called ''bonuspack'' needs to feature at least a single weapons mutator, maybe a new weapon model or something this way. I dont wanna bitch around but its IMO not a true bonuspack. As a mappack its truly impressive, as a bonuspack its not. Its like the bread without the butter.

Sometimes I miss the ''clean styled'' maps. Since the UT3 engine can show a LOT of details at once mappers overuse this feature trying to stuff as many details as possible into their maps, it often feels like a comic. Its like cars, sometimes a plain stock Dodge Viper RT10 looks better than a highly tuned one. The maps just look too busy for me, I miss the beautiful simplicity nowadays.
