Subject: Good VPN service?

Hello, dear UnrealSP, could you help me with a problem of mine?

I have moved to another city (Stuttgart) recently, and the network administrator in this student dorm has put a strict lockage on the LAN. Traffic has to be directed over an in-built HTTP proxy, and most ports are hardlocked. Instead of trying to argue with the man I'd like to circumvent the issue by using a paid VPN service. However, that service would have to be very high speed and low latency to allow me to perform my usual gaming, torrenting and other stuff as well as possible.

So, here's the questions: What's a good, trustworthy, speedy VPN service to use? Are VPNs even gaming-proof performance-wise? What should I do?

Madness, as you know, is like gravity…all it takes is a little push!

Hmm, that stuff says a lot about security, but not about speed/performance, which is what I am most interested in.. =x

The only way to get a reliable VPN is to set one up yourself. If you know someone who lives nearby you can ask them about setting up a VPN box and paying them for electricity and shit.

OpenVPN is kinda hard to use though, I don't know any good software services.

I guess it's a good thing bandwidth isn't trash in Germany, unlike here in 'Murrika.
