ALWAYS TEST ARCHIVES COMING FROM MY WEBSERVER FOR INTEGRITY REASONS

This came off of a big 2 disc shareware\freeware CD compilation. It's basically a top down free roam space shooter where the goal is to keep the trade lanes free of pirates and make sure the freighters stay safe.

Game ends when either you run out of energy (like in Elite) or you accumulate 5 freighter losses.

Things to note:
  • This uses Causeway Dos Extender, replace the dos extender at your own risk.
  • The audio library can play oldskool Amiga mod files, but music playback is plagued with clicking and squeaking, audio playback is fine though.
  • S3M support is heavily broken, do not use it.
  • Do not attempt to load large music files, make sure they stay under around ~100 KB. Loading too large music files will result in LOUD staticy noise or the game crashing.
  • SLL2.MOD originally shipped with this was improperly ripped, I replaced it with a proper version.
  • The audio library cannot load 6CHN 8CHN ,etc but it can load M.K.
  • The audio library will proceed to the next song alphabetically in the game's root directory if there is no song jumps that loop the song currently playing.

Config to use in DosBOX:

Code: Select all

[dosbox]
machine=svga_s3
captures=capture
memsize=11

[cpu]
core=normal
cputype=386
cycles=fixed 20000
cycleup=100
cycledown=100

[mixer]
nosound=false
rate=48000
blocksize=1024
prebuffer=512

[midi]
mpu401=none
mididevice=none
midiconfig=

[sblaster]
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=5
dma=1
hdma=5
sbmixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplemu=compat
oplrate=48000

If you need a bigger screen use this:

Code: Select all

[sdl]
fullscreen=false
fulldouble=true
fullresolution=0x0
windowresolution=1024x768
output=opengl

[render]
frameskip=0
aspect=true
scaler=none

You do NOT need a scaler if you are using opengl(nb) or ddraw, just simply set the window or fullscreen resolution to what you want and your hardware will scale it for you. This is ALOT faster than letting DosBOX handle it by itself...
