Can someone tell me what this stuff is all about?

It is just a website which lets you hear streamed music?

meh its a bit long to explain what it exactly does, but as i see it its just one big myspace but then music oriented :p

once you install their software, it will scan every music that you listen to and upload it to your lastfm space account.
and by that it can do afew things for you like:
It displays your music tracks you've listened to in chronological order on a myspace-ish webspace.

You can setup your personal radio channel with music that you like (only music thats available on the site though! )

It can show you other people with similar music tastes, show you their pages, listen to their radio, etc.

It can calculate what similar artists it can recommend to you, in general as for every individual track (this is usually based on comparing it with other people that listen those tracks etc)

You can check the site's extensive library of artist/track names/info that they obtained from people using their program (you can just do this from their site, without registering or anything)

sounds cool doesn't it? although i've been using it for quite a while i got bored with it after awhile, i primarely used it to to find new artist and tracks. I'm mostly listening to Trance, Hard-Trance and i found them to hardly have anything in those genres so the radio channel it created for me would end up playing the same tracks.

so is it a website for streamed music? no, although it can do that but its mainly a social music network.

hopes this helps!

Looks a bit too complex to use. I think I'll pass, I was just searching for some Up-beat/synthezied techno stuff made by a certain Konami Japanese author.

Fact that is the first time I see these kinds of websites. One day I'll learn though and I was mostly referring to Last.FM in my previous post.
