I didn't really stay at Ravello, since the trip (and it was the first time I saw Ravello) lasted some hours. I was just around the main plaza and in the church shown in Screenshot N°5 (plus the pathway after it, which leads in a villae).

The trip happened during May, so the temperature wasn't really high.

No ideas about the vegetables since I'm no expert. About the stuff of encountering people: no romance, but it's cool seeing in front of you "Hey you're UnrealSP.org's admin lol"

Well, I think that is one of the most attractive and atmospheric parts of the town, so you did well.

The plants that they grow on look more like marrow / courgette / squash vines. :|

I've been puzzling about the green vegetable on your photo for a while, Hellscrag. Then I decided to ask people in another (german) forum about it and a member seems to have figured out what it could be!

It is a kind of squash called Calabash.

Wikipedia states that the vegetable is known as cucuzza in the Italian cuisine, so this might very well be it!

Nice one sana, thanks! The vegetables certainly grow on vines that look a lot like courgette / marrow / squash plants. I think you may have nailed it.

That second pic.. that yellow stuff.. that's squash for sure. We have that here as well (and I usually make fun of it)...

And as for your pics, Scrag.. nice ones! Makes me want to visit it some time (which probably never will happen :( ).
And as Sana said before.. more inspiration for DOM-TempoClasm! :D

It depends how much money you can save up. Ravello doesn't come cheap, but I think it's worth the extra cost. It's got a very idyllic vibe to it (it's a very safe place for children, with the bonus of being largely free of cars) and pretty much all of the hotels have stunning views. Most of the hotels also have swimming pools (the hotel we stayed at, the Giordano, has a particularly good pool and is particularly well placed right next to the square).

I certainly hadn't forgotten the family part (indeed I mentioned the suitability of Ravello for children), but I must confess I had forgotten that you were now in the US.
