"wa" is just a expletive and acknowledgement word here in Halle xD
instead of "..nicht wahr?" (..doesn't it/you?) or "ja" (yes) we say "wa!" .. *stupid Dr. Hibbert Laughter*

Happy birthday!
Speaking as a complete weaponry n00b here..
..I recall the Axis Engineers in RTCW: Enemy Territory being able to choose this gun. It was possible to mount a grenade on the tip and use it as a grenade launcher.. is that a real feature of the gun?

Visc gun smartass mode on:
Not exactely, the weapon in Enemy Territory of the Engineer is a K43, which is basically a complete new design using the old K98 8x57IS round. The K43 is a semi-auto design with detachable magazine which was issued in 1943 while the K98 was a bolt-action 1898 (the short carbine version was issued 1933) design which underwent major barrel length cutting to make it shorter for close(er) range combat usally beeing only 50-100 metres. Its has a inner not detachable 5-round magazine box which loads with stripper clips Although the differences the K98 was weapon of choice during the whole WW2 on german side.
Yes its old, but its design is time-proven (most modern guns are NOT) extremely reliable, and it is -most importantly- the most rugged weapon made by man. - Even at todays standart.
K98:
K43 or Gewehr 43
The shortest Mauser K98 was the M63 ''Tanker'', it was designed for tank crews that why it is that short - to store it in a tank.
The recoil must be horrendus in such a small and lightweight rifle. The standart K98 gives you a blue shouldr and headache after 20 shots.
The famous ''Granat Becher'' or '' grenade cup'' was used for both K98 and K43, although it could not use standart grenades like in ET. There were special rifle grenades made and they were shot with blank cartridges, if you shoot one with a real cartridge you are pretty much screwed as the nade directly explodes right at the muzzle not only screwing up the entire rifle... I guess that happened more than once in WW2.
